Uesugi Kenshin Tessen

Uesugi Kenshin (1530-1578)was one of the many powerful Daimyo in the Sengoku period and legendary rival of Takeda Shingen, famous for his prowess on the battlefield, military expertise and strategy, who was a devotee of Bishamonten (God of War and Warriors) and believed himself to be the reincarnation of Bishamonten.

Sometimes Kenshin was referred as "The Dragon of Echigo" (Echigo is the old name of Niigata prefecture) because of his fearsome skills displayed on the battlefield.

This Tessen features the first character of Bishamonten, BI and the Kanji of Ryu (dragon).

This model is a reproduction of Tessen used by Uesugi Kenshin, with his own Kamon (family crest) and the Kanji of Dragon featured over a high quality steel blue Washi (Japanese paper)

The Oyabone (outer ribs) are made of iron, forged in the very same Gifu, and the Nakabone (inner ribs) are made of fine blackened Kyoto bamboo.

This model comes with his Kamon and the word Musou (peerless) in Maki-E style in the one of Oyabone.
