Naoe Kanetsugu (1560-1620) was a Japanese samurai of the Azuchi-Momoyama period through early Edo Period.
He quickly distinguished himself as an outstanding commander, and was
involved in much of the fighting.
The Kanji Ai, that he had on his Kabuto means love but in this case represents the first letter
of Aizen Myo-o, a God of love in
which he believed and respected.
