You are here: Home > Japanese Wear / Accessories > Samue
Samue has been worn for centuries by Japanese Monks and until now you can see Buddhist or Zen monks wearing it in the temple as working clothes or semi-formal wear.

But due their comfor freedom of movement and easy wearing they also became very popular as Zen uniform, craftsmen’s wear and as a casual wear among common people.

Please note that the image is not printed on the Samue but featured using the traditional technique called Bassen (discoloration technique) which consists in discoloring, removing the dye in details of the fabric leaving the shape of the design.
