This Unique Shinai is made thanks to the collaboration of Iwasaki Norimitsu Sensei, a famous Kinko Shi (Katana related metal craftsman) in the Kansai area of Japan, with more than 50 years of experience and several times awarded by the NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai - Society for the Preservation of Japanese arts swords). Some of his works can be appreciated in several temples and museum of Japan.
For this High-Quality Shinai, we have chosen the most traditional and first style ever used in Kendo, the Koto Gata or old sword shape. As a Shinken, the weight of this Koto Shinai is evenly distributed all along the blade offering a clean and firm cut or hit.
The fine Horimono (carving) of this Kenmakiryu (dragon winding around a sword) was chosen by Iwasaki Sensei itself from one of their previous works.
From the old times, the Kenmakiryu has been one of the most favorite Horimono for the Samurai as a symbol of divine protection and vigilance, so Yamato Budogu Shinai will not be the exception.
