This Hanten features the well known Mitsudomoe Kamon
Originally the Mitsudomoe was associated with Hachiman
(war deity of Shinto) and because of this became very popular among the Samurai
as their traditional symbol.
This Deluxe Hanten is made using a traditional fabric weaving called Kurume.
Produced since the Edo period this Kurume Ori started in Fukuoka and very soon become very popular all over Japan as a delicate and elegant fabric design.
You can appreciate in the close up picture the rustic but elegant weave pattern
Outside made of 100% cotton, lined with cotton and padded with soft 30%/polyester 70% cotton.

on the Hanten but featured in the back using the traditional technique called Bassen
(discoloration technique) which consists in discoloring, removing the dye in details of the fabric leaving the shape of the design.
