Description

This Hanten features the well known Mitsudomoe Kamon. Originally the Mitsudomoe was associated with Hachiman (war deity of Shinto) and because of this became very popular among the Samurai as their traditional symbol.

This Deluxe Hanten is made using a traditional fabric weaving called Kurume.

Produced since the Edo period this Kurume Ori started in Fukuoka and very soon become very popular all over Japan as a delicate and elegant fabric design.

You can appreciate in the close up picture the rustic but elegant weave pattern.

Outside made of 100% cotton, lined with cotton and padded with soft 30%/polyester 70% cotton.
  • Available only in navy, in free size.
  • Proudly made in Japan.

Please note that it’s not printed on the Hanten but featured in the back using the traditional technique called Bassen (discoloration technique) which consists in discoloring, removing the dye in details of the fabric leaving the shape of the design.

The Bassen is still being used in these days for putting the Kamon (family crest) on the Kimono.
