Bishamonten
” or “
Bishamon
” is referred to Vaisravana, a Sanscrit word which means the
God of War
and Warriors. He is usually clad in armor, with a spear in one hand and a pagoda in the other. He is the scourge of evil doers and the protector for the righteous ones.
The
Daimyo Uesugi Kenshin
used to use the Kanji of “
BI
”, the first character of
Bishamonten
, on his battle standard.
The Jimbei is a
traditional Japanese summer wear
, very relaxing and used both as a casual and home wear.
Made of thin 100% cotton fabric with traditional and
typical “open Jimbei sleeve”
, which makes it extremely
comfortable and cool
, and by this reason it is very popular being used as a pajama too.

it’s not printed
on the Jimbei but featured in the back using the traditional technique called
Bassen
(discoloration technique) which consists in discoloring, removing the dye in details of the fabric leaving the shape of the design.
The Bassen is still being used in these days for putting the
Kamon
(family crest) on the
Kimono
.
