“
Bishamonten” or “
Bishamon” is referred to Vaisravana, a Sanscrit word which
means the
God of War and Warriors. He is usually clad in armor, with a spear in one hand and a pagoda in the other. He is the scourge of evil doers and the protector for the righteous ones.

The
Daimyo Uesugi Kenshin used to use the Kanji of “
BI”, the first character of
Bishamonten, on his battle standard.
This imposing
BI is on the back together with three lines design and the Kanji of
Ryu (dragon) embroidered on the chest. A very nice and original Hanten Jinbaori.
